Freshman Foundation

THE FOUNDATION CONCEPT

  • Provide each ninth grade student with a strong base, a foundation of core curriculum.

  • The core will be centered on two credits of Language Arts instruction.

  • A Career Pathways class will provide each student with the skills to be successful at THS and beyond.

  • Elective options will be limited to courses that fulfill graduation requirements or are year one of a four year program.

BENEFITS OF THE BLOCK SCHEDULE

  • Each student takes eight classes (credits) per year.

  • Each student only takes four classes (credits) per semester.

  • Classroom instruction provides more depth, and teachers incorporate labs and other learning activities daily.

  • Students will take 32 classes (credits).

FRESHMAN COURSE SCHEDULE

Block and Academy scheduling enables the students to be
creative and flexible in their scheduling, personalizing
it to their interests and strengths.
