Cambridge (AICE)
 

What is the Cambridge (AICE) Program?

Advanced International Certificate in Education program, affiliated with Cambridge University. Courses are taught by THS instructors.

Passing AICE exams earns college credits. Courses for examination are provided in the 11th and 12th grade years.
AICE Courses are weighted an additional point (A  = 5.0 GPA; B = 4.0 GPA, etc.) Cambridge Diploma Option is available at THS.

Earning the AICE Diploma
  • Six credits in AICE Level Courses, including at least one from each of the three subject groups (see below).
  • Passing scores (A – E) on Examinations (Papers) in the minimum six AICE courses from the subject groups.
  • Groups of Study:
    • Math and Science (Group A)
    • Languages (Group B)
    • Arts and Humanities (Group C)
 
Requirements for acceptance into Cambridge?
  • State cumulative GPA of 3.0+ -- to be maintained .
  • Earn score of 300 or higher on most recent FCAT.
  • Maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
  • Four satisfactory teacher recommendations
  • Satisfactory guidance counselor recommendation.
  • Personal essay
  • Completed application submitted to AICE Directors
 
The Pre-Cambridge Continuum
Qualified 9th and 10th grade students prepare for the Cambridge (AICE) level courses by taking pre-Cambridge courses (Pre-AICE).
Courses are designed to develop high order thinking, oral skills, writing skills, problem solving, team work and investigative skills.
These courses are recommended but NOT required for participation in AICE-level course work.

Cambridge Continuum:
AICE curriculum offered at 11th and 12th grade with courses from three curriculum core areas. (Math/Science; Language; Arts/Humanities).
